I am going to sound like a broken record saying this, because I have said it a million times before, but there is no better combination in the world than peanut butter and chocolate. This Peanut Butter Sheet Cake with Chocolate Glaze is a delicious dessert that is perfect for parties and get togethers. Because it is a sheet cake, it bakes much faster than some other cakes, and it is much more convenient to serve.
Tips for making my Peanut Butter Sheet Cake with Chocolate Glaze:
- You can use a regular creamy peanut butter, or natural. I do not recommend using crunchy because the nuts will probably all settle at the bottom of the cake.
- When you are mixing the wet ingredients together, it will seem VERY liquidy. Also, the peanut butter may not fully combine with the other ingredients. Both of these things are okay and to be expected.
- Whatever you do, DO NOT overcook your cake! There is nothing worse than a dry cake.
- Let the cake cool slightly before adding the glaze, but the best thing about using a glaze rather than an icing is that it pours on, so the cake can still be warm when topping it.
- I know waiting is hard, but do your best to allow this cake to cool before slicing. You don’t want it falling apart on you!

Peanut Butter Sheet Cake with Chocolate Glaze
Ingredients
Cake
- ½ cup unsalted butter melted
- 2 cups brown sugar
- ⅓ cup peanut butter creamy
- 1 cup water room temperature
- ½ cup sour cream
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup milk
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp baking powder
Glaze
- ½ cup unsalted butter melted
- ¼ cup milk
- 5 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups confectioners sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350° and grease a large jelly roll pan.
- Using your mixer, cream together the melted butter and brown sugar. Add in the peanut butter, water, sour cream, eggs, vanilla extract and milk and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined.
- Pour the batter into the greased pan and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes.
- While the cake is in the oven, make the glaze by whisking the melted butter, milk, cocoa powder, vanilla and sugar together until smooth and completely combined.
- When the cake is done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes. Pour the glaze over the cake and spread it out gently. Allow to cool completely before serving.
