Easy Fresh Aji Picante – Colombian Hot Sauce with Habanero

Easy Fresh Aji picante

I have been making this Easy Fresh Aji Picante for years and my husband and I love to put it on just about anything! I originally found this recipe on Skinny Taste. If you have not checked out all of the amazing recipes that Gina has created at skinnytaste.com, you are really missing out! Making this Colombian hot sauce is as simple as blending the ingredients together. It takes only a few minutes, and the result is a perfectly spicy and fresh sauce that is incredibly versatile. This is a naturally carb free, dairy free, gluten free, vegan and vegetarian sauce, so it is great for most diets!

Easy Fresh Aji Picante

Here are some tips for making Easy Fresh Aji Picante:

  • I tend to grab roma tomatoes for this recipe because I feel that they are just the right size. I have also used other, larger tomatoes in for this hot sauce though, and they have worked just fine. Use what you have on hand and don’t stress over it.
  • We really like things spicy, so sometimes I get crazy and throw a third habanero in my Aji Picante. This sauce is meant to be pretty hot, but you can tame the heat slightly by reducing it to one habanero if you desire.
  • I am pretty lenient about how long I will keep things like this in the refrigerator. With this sauce having vinegar in it, I feel like it will keep for a pretty good while. Still to be on the safe side (and so I don’t get sued or anything!), I would recommend keeping this for no longer than a week.
